The Times Group, India’s largest media conglomerate approached us to redesign their Sunday Supplement, of their flagship newspaper.
The design brief was to contemporize the design, differentiate it completely from the main paper and make it feel like a breezy Sunday read. The editor was keen to work with us to bring in a better quality of photography, and was willing to lead with strong visuals.
With an open mandate, we worked to provide a strong identity using bold type and a vibrant but limited colour pallete. The guidelines set a tone of voice for the supplement, with special reference to the cover page; it was decided that the cover spread would always be in black and yellow with the lead image in black and white. The design grid was strong and clean, giving the supplement a crisp uncluttered feel.
